WORKSHOP
2013
2012
The Forum of Results triggers a productive interchange between the city of Vienna and Europan:
Architects from the 95 winning teams elaborate projects for five development areas during a four days workshop, which takes place immediately before the Forum. The results of this workshop shall inspire Vienna’s planning authorities in directing future urban processes.
2012
The E11 Forum of Results is the climax of all E11 events: The final Europan 11 rendez-vous! It brings together all 95 winning teams with representatives of 49 cities and 17 Europan organizing countries.
It offers a series of debates, social gatherings, and architectural excursions to exemplary city development areas of Vienna.
COMMISSION FOR A STUDY
2012
The team was doing a study about the possibilities of integrating the railway stop in the public space, as well as exploring the densification of the project. Actually, negotiations with the Austrian railway company about alternatives to their standardized train-stop design are under way. These alternatives would be decisive for the quality of the central public space of the project. The site developer, Wien Holding, intends to commission the winners with further steps of architectural planning after the clarification of theses questions.
COMPETITION ENTRY
2011
"The project gives to the city and the site owner a promising spatial concept which is “robust” enough to be adapted in phases and its respective parts by multiple authors.
The quality of the project is the striking simplicity of the idea of the triangular space which is both public space and organizing principle ; it succeeds in linking both sides of the railway without elaborate engineering.

The idea to group three different “landscapes” of housing around this square must be followed because it is their very differences, that ensures a “malleable richness” for the future development.
The way how the project deals with the level crossing could trigger new ways of integrating infrastructure in the local tissue: conflict points between different sorts of mobility systems are crucial nowadays. The quality of the winning project is exactly to make a proposition of how to „de-instrumentalize“ the usual spatial regulations. Regarding the benefits of a successful integration the city planning department should explore this innovative concept, finding ways to negotiate its implementation. In this way the project would become a pilot, contributing to necessary transformations of existing planning regulations.

Concerning the proposed types of housing the jury appreciates their variety. The fact that the architectural development is open to adaptation when it comes to density, the question of limits, and typological elaboration demonstrates its quality."
