STUDIES
2013
The client (BIG) is preparing a development model, in which the different investors should form one single developing company (Entwicklungsgesellschaft) for the whole site. This model should help to guarantee the specific project’s qualities, with the help of a “quality control group” (Qualitätssicherungsbeirat). The forth going of the planning approval process (Widmung) will have to wait, until the investor model is ready.
STUDIES
2011
The city asked the team to represent their project focussing on the « game board » of the rules for the urban system. Various parameters concerning the feasibilty of the project were discussed during the presentation of the project. The client (BIG = federal organization of real estate development) has suggested a local partner-architect to join the implementation procedure. Collaboration between partner architect and Europan winning team has started in February 2011.

Negotiation has also been the base of the work process. It has been a collective work with the collaboration of the local architect team, Masha & Seethaler, some advisors from various sectors (sociology, participation, landscape gardening, sound quality, energy and mobility), Vienna City Hall representatives, the public company that owns the land (BIG), and Europan Austria. During both phases, the team has investigated about the role that architects play in the configuration of a contemporary city, which is more and more a complex and changeable reality. Architects cannot make use of geometry any more to give shape to a society, which has no shape itself. We understand that their role is to propose supports not just for building but also for the multiple processes that constitute the city.

COMPETITION ENTRY
2009
"The project offers a comprehensive strategy of densification as an intense procedure of options and negotiations extending the programme of living to a programme which relates the quality of life to the „quality of development with its different procedures. The project offers a powerful tool that activates the residential programm in such a way that it becomes the promotor of an urban space."
"Combining a grid structure, plot patterns and social equipment with the productive specificity of housing agencies, private developers and communal initiatives the project delivers a convincing strategy that operates as a set of actions on various levels. The taking of final decisions is the outcome of a well structured process which does not reduce the project to mere questions of type, use, building and physical context."
